Audit Manager

Following another year of growth and career progression within our team, we are recruiting an Audit Manager to join us at our Lancaster office.

Key to our success is having a talented and dedicated team of individuals who want to work in and actively be part of an inspiring and challenging environment. The ideal candidate will recognise the importance of a team approach but will have the innate determination to ‘go the extra mile’ for the firm, its clients, their colleagues and themselves. The people who join our team are recruited not only for their technical excellence and ability, but also for the potential we see in them to help us drive the firm forward and add real value for our clients.

At CLB Coopers, which is part of the national Baldwins group, one of the fastest growing accountancy firms in the UK, we know our people are our greatest asset and without them we will not achieve success. For that reason, we provide a structured and supportive approach to training and career development and create an environment in which everyone is encouraged to achieve their aspirations and ambitions. We make sure that the members of our team who deserve recognition, reward and progression throughout the firm are always given it.

The applicant

At interview, we know you’ll tell us you are intelligent, numerate, articulate, that you have strong technical knowledge and are committed to finishing the job on time and to budget – these things are a given.

But can you develop a genuine rapport with clients, build lasting relationships through effective communication and coordinate service delivery that exceeds clients’ expectations? Can you manage and inspire your team and support their development through coaching, feedback and delegation? Can you spot a need and suggest a solution? Do you care about our clients and the service you & your colleagues are providing them with?  Do you aspire to develop and retain client relationships and influence your peers by being a role model? Will you make a direct contribution to the continued growth we seek?

If so, you’re exactly the kind of person we want to be part of our team. And if you can demonstrate at interview using examples of why you believe you’re the kind of person we’re looking for, then all the better! You’ll be well-placed for a highly enjoyable, challenging and successful career with us.

Ideally you will:-

  • Be ACA/ACCA qualified with first-time passes with at least three years’ post-qualified experience
  • Have a Minimum 2:1 degree
  • Have experience of managing a portfolio of clients and team of staff
  • Have experience of reviewing accounts and audit assignments, including group audits, and completing assignments direct to the RI
  • Have excellent internal and client communication skills
  • Work efficiently and effectively as part of a team
  • Have a working knowledge of CCH and paperless auditing
  • Have experience of Charities/FSA/Pensions experience

The role

We have high expectations of all team members and are looking for an Audit Manager who is experienced in managing audit teams on a portfolio of clients ranging from small owner-managed businesses to larger groups operating across a diverse range of industries. You’ll be responsible not only for delivering a complete audit file to the RI on time (every time), but also for managing the audit process from beginning to end, working with other departments across the firm as necessary, ensuring our clients receive the seamless service they deserve. You will effectively plan you and your team’s time, review and challenge your team’s work, review and clear routine audit queries, consider and summarise complex audit issues for discussion with the client, make the RI internal reviews as straightforward as possible.

You will also be able to deliver ad-hoc projects for clients, working either alone or as part of a team, demonstrating an understanding of our clients’ needs, strong analytical skills, attention to detail and presentation skills.

As a key member of the audit team you will motivate and inspire through your actions and will identify when other team members need additional support or training to fulfil their roles.

You will be based at our Lancaster office, but the requirements of the role will be that you work across the firm’s client base, so you’ll need to be flexible to work from our Bolton and Manchester office locations and clients’ premises as needed and as part of your normal day-to-day duties.
