At CLB Coopers, which is part of the Baldwins Group, one of the fastest growing accountancy firms in the UK, we know our people are our greatest asset and without them we will not achieve success, so our clients are not the only ones we help to grow. We are just as committed to helping our people achieve their ambitions too.
The people who join us at CLB Coopers are recruited not only for their technical excellence and ability, but equally as important, for the potential we see in them to help us drive the firm forward, to add real value for our clients and to, ultimately, help them to achieve their ambitions.
As a firm that is committed to helping our people to succeed, we provide a structured and supportive approach to training & career development and have an environment, built through mentoring and coaching, in which everyone is encouraged to achieve their ambitions. We make sure that the members of our team who deserve recognition, reward and progression are always given it. So whatever your ambitions, as part of our team, you will be in the perfect place to make them happen.
As the ideal candidate, you will be a highly motivated and confident individual, with an eagerness to make the role your own. you will possess the drive and determination to ‘go the extra mile’ for the firm, our clients, your colleagues and yourself. But you will recognise the importance of a team approach and will be committed to everyone succeeding together. Our focus is to support our people and our teams to aspire, grow, achieve and succeed, so you should also have a genuine desire to be part of a team. It is essential that you have strong inter-personal skills and are a good communicator.
We know you’ll tell us you have strong technical tax knowledge and a commitment to finishing the job on time and to budget – these things are a given if you are a member of our team. But can you develop a genuine rapport with clients? Can you identify a need and suggest the best solution for the client and their business? Do you care about our clients and the service you’re providing them, the relationship you build with them and the influence you have on your peers? Will you make a direct contribution to our continued growth and look for ways to contribute to future success? Can you inspire your team through coaching and support with a real commitment to their development?
If so, you’re exactly the kind of person we want to be part of our team. And if you can demonstrate at interview using examples of why you believe you’re the kind of person we’re looking for, then all the better. You’ll be well-placed for a highly enjoyable, challenging and successful career with us.
You will either be ACA, ACCA or ATT qualified and ideally, you will be CTA, although we are still happy to consider your application if you aren’t.
The role will be divided between the management of a Corporate Tax portfolio and assisting the Directors with tax advisory projects.
The Corporate Tax portfolio consists of a range of owner-managed businesses, corporate groups and professional partnerships. Our clients operate across a wide range of industries and in terms of size range from £10 to £40million turnover.
You will be responsible for ensuring delivery of compliance returns, billing and WIP management, as well as advisory work for your own portfolio.
We’ve never been a firm to rest on our laurels, so an important part of your responsibilities will be to challenge what we do and how we do it, for the benefit of your colleagues and to drive even higher levels of client service. You will continually look for ways to improve our departmental processes and procedures, and working with our firm-wide Tax team, drive the implementation of these across the teams.
You will provide support to our Directors on various advisory projects, which can include planning for entrepreneurs, working with our Corporate Finance team on transactional tax projects (on acquisitions, disposals and restructuring, for instance) and group reorganisations.
You will be expected to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and liaise on tax compliance issues, assist with the supervision and coaching of the team and to support our Directors on more complex technical assignments and advisory work, ensuring continuous best service for our clients & contacts and your colleagues.
