CLB Coopers advises Pugh Auction Group Limited

The Corporate Finance and Tax team at CLB Coopers has supported the management team of Pugh Auction Group Limited in its sale to Begbies Traynor Group plc.

Pugh was established in 2000 and became the largest firm of commercial property auctioneers operating outside of London, holding regular auctions in Leeds and Manchester. The combination of Pugh with the Group’s existing auction business, Eddisons, will become the third-largest firm of commercial property auctioneers nationally.

CLB Coopers provided lead advisory services in relation to the sale of Pugh as well as tax advice to the company in relation to the transaction and to its owners.

Andrew Feeke, Corporate Finance Partner at CLB Coopers, said, “We have worked with the team at Pugh for over a decade, including supporting the company’s initial management buy-out back in 2006. This transaction is testament to the hard work of Paul Thompson and his team in building this business to be the largest firm of its kind outside of London”.

“Companies such as Pugh are the perfect fit with the services we are able to offer. Not only have we worked with them on their regulatory & compliance requirements, we have also been able to provide them with the support they need in transactional work for their management buy-out and now, sale, through our specialist corporate finance and tax teams”.
